Rome Eulogy
The Glory of rome is not Forgotten
The Roman Empire had many lasting achievements. For example, it utilized Greek architectural ideas, like the arch, which meant that it's buildings were aesthetically pleasing and had good structural support. It's official language, Latin, is a great influence on many languages today. They are Spanish, French, Italian, and English. Even it's government affects life today. The "Twelve Tables"directly influence the Constitution of the U.S. The republican way of government is also borrowed from the great empire.
The Roman Empire suffered many trials and tribulations in it's final years. For example, the rise to Christianity (due to Constantine) which led to it's fall because it made the Romans pacifists, which made them prone to destruction. Political corruption, another reason for its downfall, contributed by electing terrible rulers, who simply wanted power. Unemployment was also a reason for it's downfall. This is because the emperor had to feed thousands of people who lost or sold their farm because they couldn't compete with slave-owners' prices, which in turn exhausted the great empire's money.
Rome was once a great and powerful empire. It invented the dome, the aqueduct, and many more. The amount of land it captured is insane, and it must have been hard to control such vast tracts of land. It's great architecture inspired by the Greeks are a wonderful inspiration for modern-day building, for example the California State Capital Building. I bid this Immensely important a final farewell, as there will never be a replacement for Rome.
