Daily Life and Protection Come on down to the amazing Byzantine Empire, the #1 vacation spot on Earth. With our posh houses and shops where you can get everything you'll need, life is amazing here. We are the center of trade, in between Africa, Asia, and Europe, so if your a trader, your in luck. Our harbor even controls shipping between Europe and Asia! We speak Greek, and we're Orthodox Christians, so you may have a little bit of trouble blending in, but our social structure is based on merit; you can move up the ranks! Byzantine is also well protected, by land, sea, and military. We are on a peninsula, so three sides of Byzantium is surrounded by water. The fourth side is surrounded by three walls, each one progressively larger.

Emperor Justinian and Empress Theodora
Our Emperor Justinian is the greatest emperor ever. He and his wife Theodora help us live a happy life. Theodora is very clever and she pretty much controls everything. It is partially because of her, that all citizens are treated equally here. The Justinian Code of Law is the law system here. It is an amazing law system, since he looked at 400 years of the Roman 12 Tables and chose, rewrote, and deleted laws here and there. |
Entertainment and Recreation
Entertainment and recreation are a big part of our lifestyle. We enjoy socializing in public baths, and if we feel the need to be alone, we go to our private baths. Our real pride, though, is our Hippodrome. The Hippodrome is a huge stadium in which chariot races are held. These races are usually not as gruesome as the gladiator battles in the Colosseum of Old Rome, but many people do die. |
Religion
Our religion is Christianity, or to be precise, Orthodox Christianity. After a series of disagreements between the Byzantine emperors and the Pope,The Great schism occurred. The most important disagreement between them was the debate about idol worship. We believe that worshiping idols is a terrible thing to do, since you are not actually worshiping God. Instead, we pray to God and do not, under any circumstances, use idols as items of worship. |
