A Day In The Life of Sir Blaze(Me!)
October 13, 779 A.D.
Today was a very exciting day. I woke up in the morning and did all my morning tasks. After that I went downstairs to meet with my lord, Lord Ender. I was sent to live with him to start my training, and I’m very happy as he is a very nice person. I often thank God for our feudalistic society, since I wouldn’t have met Lord Ender otherwise. I shouldn't ramble on like this. Anyways, he was in a particular good mood today. He beamed at me and said that I would see the new addition to the manor, the training facility attached to the castle. We walked out and into the grand addition, and we trained for a 7 hours, occasionally exchanging comments about the great training area. After that, he went of to train another knight, Sir Randolph, as I ate my lunch. As I was walking back to my quarters, I heard a man yell quite loudly, “The Vikings are here!” I ran to my quarters, not taking defensive positions, since Lord Ender said that since I didn't have complete knowledge of being a knight, I shouldn't attempt to ward off invaders. If one attacks me though, I will destroy him/her. After a long time, the castle was safe. I then ate dinner and went to bed.
The Power of the Church

Today, my fellow knights and I went to church with Lord Ender. While we were there he said something that Pope Gregory VII thought was heresy, so he excommunicated Lord Ender. Of course he used indulgence to save himself, but it was still a frightening experience. When we returned home after paying our tithe to the church he told us that he didn’t like that the Pope misunderstood him and that we should not anger the Pope. We happily agreed on that. After that he educated us on the dispute between Pope Gregory VII and King Henry IV, because he thought it would help us survive, even though we were only knights.
Crusades
October 23 1098 A.D.
I was truly terrified today. I was travelling as a pilgrimage. When I finally reached Jerusalem, I was in for a surprise. The Arabs who had ruled Jerusalem were gone and the new Arab rulers did not allow I in. I was furious but didn’t retaliate, because that would kill me. As I returned home with hundreds of fuming knights, serfs, and lords, I decided that I would ask Pope Urban II for a crusade or holy war, but I was beaten to it. It turns out a man named John Fastin had already requested this great war and that the symbol of the war should be a red cross.
The Black Plaque

I have never seen anything like what I saw today.A few days ago I was in my town house, when I heard that merchants had docked. Eager to see what goods they brought. But they did not bring goods, instead they shouted of a great plague taking many lives, and that we should be careful. Now, I know they were right. Men are dying everywhere with almost no remedy. This “death” has been called the Bubonic Plague because of the buboes or boils that form on victims. I am quite happy that my father died before this, because I don’t want him to witness this terrible plague. There is little hope for anyone who gets infected. Doctors have come up with many remedies including blood-letting, not taking baths, and don’t bathe, while others , like Nostradomus, theorized other remedies, such as bathing, breathing fresh air, and excercising daily. I think that rats are infecting people because they are almost always near the plague infected.
The Decline of Feudalism
November 9, 1467
Our Feudalistic society is dead, and I am not too bothered about it. It relieves me of my knightly duties, since gunpowder was introduced by trade. Knights don’t use gunpowder, soldiers do. This trade also causes peasants to leave the manors, so workers on the manor are scarce. The plaque also depleted our population, peasants, or otherwise. The war between France and England also affected us terribly, and fighting in it was worse. The trade brought in something quite odd however:learning. It was something that people have disregarded for hundreds of years, but the government has now deemed it necessary. Ah, of course we now have an actual government! As you could see, I am very pleased with our Feudalistic society demise.
